It may be the closest thing America has to a royal wedding, so it should come as no surprise that all eyes are on the engagement ring Brad Pitt gave to Angelina Jolie. The emerald-cut, multiple stone ring was designed by the star who first gamed fame in "Thelma and Louise." Brad and Angelina, nicknamed "Bradgelina" by the press, have been a couple since the two starred in the remake of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" in 2005.

Designing the Ring

The 48-year-old box office draw designed the ring as part of a collaboration with Beverly Hills jeweler Robert Procop. The jeweler notes that Brad had a "specific vision" for the ring. The two worked together on the ring for over a year. Procop told The Hollywood Reporter that Brad was involved with every aspect of the design. The diamond was cut to a custom size and shaped to fit Angelina's hand perfectly. The side diamonds on the ring were cut to encircle her finger. Angelina proudly displayed the ring while on the red carpet at a recent event. Jewelry expert Michael O’Connor notes that an emerald has to be of a very high quality to work as a gemstone for a ring. The engagement ring has an estimated value of $250,000.

A Little Push from the Kids

Over the years, the couple didn't appear to have any real desire to get married. Reportedly, it was the couples children, Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, Zahara and twins Viv and Knox, that pushed the couple to final move towards the altar. Cynthia Pett-Dante, Brad's manager, confirmed that a date for the wedding has not been set yet. At one point, Brad said he was going to wait to get married until same-sex marriage was legal in all states. Now, the star says that he has decided to make the commitment to get married since it "means so much to the kids." No details have emerged yet on how or if Brad officially popped the question to Angelina. The ring itself is said to reflect the personality of the star of the Lara Croft series. The attention to detail is obvious, from the shape of the emerald to the thick ribbed band. Some have compared it to something Elizabeth Taylor would have worn.

The 36-year-old "Salt" star wore the ring on her wedding finger during a recent visit to observe a Chinese art collection at a museum in Los Angeles. Angelina proudly showed the ring while enjoying an afternoon of art with her future husband and their son Pax. Although there are some reports that Angelina isn't happy with the ring, there is no confirmation of this. Brad reportedly put a lot of time and effort into the ring and ever since Angelina started wearing it in public, she has appeared happy with Brad's handy work. Either reports of her being unhappy with the ring are just rumors or she is a really good actress. Regardless, the ring is likely to be a popular request for engagement and wedding rings at jewelers around the world. In April, the star even flashed the ring at photographers as she exited the former Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

It was just a given that Brad's engagement ring for Angelina would be compared to the ring he designed for first wife Jennifer Aniston. There is more to Queen Victoria than an old woman in black gothic gowns, but a long forgotten but true exciting love story. The Victorian era was coined after Queen Victoria's reign from June 1837 until her death on the 22nd of January 1901. An interview with Sarah Ferguson on Good Morning America sparked my interest in Queen Victoria, as Sarah was asked details about her divorce from Prince Andrew. Sarah Ferguson was asked if she had any regrets, and she explained her one big regret was how she didn't fight for her marriage like Queen Victoria did for hers. It captured my interest in Victoria as it was said that she was a passionate woman who loved and adored her husband. Adored? Victoria's marriage was pre-arranged, but yet she fell head over heals for the man who was picked out in advance for her. Prince Albert of Germany, swept Victoria off her feet, as she had an instantaneous attraction to Albert, whom she described as "extremely handsome ... he has a beautiful nose and a very sweet mouth" She wrote to her uncle Leopold thanking him "for the prospect of great happiness you have contributed to give me in the person of dear Albert. "He possesses every quality that can be desired to make me perfectly happy."

In 1840, the 20 year old Victoria married Prince Albert as she recounts their passionate wedding night "It was a gratifying and bewildering experience. I never, never spent such an evening. His excessive love and affection gave me feelings of heavenly love and happiness. He clasped me in his arms and we kissed each other again and again."

The young Queen Victoria relied heavily on her husband's advice and he became a great influence in Victoria's decisions while he reigned as Queen. It was said she was most involved in political and royal duties while he was still alive, than when he was dead as though he provided that spark she needed to be the best she could be. She admired him and was completely devoted to him, and did nothing without her husband's approval.

Prince Albert became known and admired for his honesty, diligence, and his devotion to his family. During their marriage they had 9 children, whom she was also playfully added got involved in their love making. "She enjoyed the physical side of their relationship - but rarely the consequences. At one point, she had nine children under 15 and deeply resented the physical and emotional repercussions of child-bearing, because pregnancy and babies got in the way of sex." Even though it was rumoured they had a great sex life, it remained in their marriage.

In 1861 Prince Albert died and Victoria was utterly devastated. She would not show her face in public for three full years. Victoria ruled for 63 years and adored Albert so much that she refused to wear anything but black to show her mourning for her husband, which she did for 40 years.

The love story such as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert can be anyone's love story. Love is a choice, and is something worth fighting for such as Sarah Sarah Ferguson regretfully speaks about. Fighting for your marriage is not for when things go wrong, but a choice every day. Truly loving can be shown through serving your husband or wife and putting their needs first and sacrificing your own. Building that love in your marriage can be attained by guarding it. Turning your head at the seductive draws of the world, and not allowing anyone to come between you and yours. Guarding your love is being aware of temptations. Albert, knew these basic principles when he obviously introduced a strict dress in court and made a point of straitlaced behavior.

Even though Queen Victoria ruled a nation, she sumbitted to her husband, showing the love and respect of building up the very man that lead her every day. Victoria and Albert knew the secret of marriage which is simply given in Ephesians 5:21-33 and 1 Peter 3:1-7, and their passion and love and success was a testimony to that secret.

Emily Blunt, who plays Victoria, in 'The Young Victoria' as saying "They really were made for each other and he was her greatest achievement in many ways. He loved her selflessly and wanted her to be the best version of herself that she could be."
